Cleanliness is next to.....

Impossible. I seriously doubt the good Lord intended my house to be spotless....Surely he would have given me maid service by now.

Do children's toys multiply? I have decided that they are quite prolific. For instance, when did my girls get SO MANY Barbies. I swear I only bought them one.

Again. I'm blaming the Grandparents :)

Ok, so they were two....they NEEDED a Barbie. Livy is smiling and Abby is hamming it up, how can I say NO?

Meet Chewy

I let our dog Sampson out yesterday, and he was quite interested in our butterfly bush.

I heard a scream from the grass, and knew that it had to be a bunny.

Not knowing if the bunny was suffering, I did what any wife would do, sent James out to make sure that it was ok.....(I can't handle a suffering animal).

James carefully picked up the little guy, checked for damages, and gave the OK to show the girls.
Teeny Bunny

It was everything I could do not to pet it....the girls loved it. They insisted it needed a carrot and a name......Chewy.

Chewy and his Carrot

Now for a split second I thought we needed a new pet, but then realized that this rabbit probably would rather take its chances with the wild than live with 2 cats. a dog and a set of pre-schoolers.

After giving it a goodbye wave, and one last picture, James took it out to the brush by our house where it happily hopped away.

It's the Kitten that Binds Us

Swimsuit season. The time of year that makes grown up gals cringe (well, at least me). I tend to avoid swimsuits like the plague, but, there is something wrong with my daughters, they just can't fit into the suit I bought them last summer.

Trip to Target.
I decided to put on my Big-Mom pants. I was actually going to let the girls choose their own swimsuits. So far, the girls (being twins and all) had only been able to choose different socks and pajamas. I figured a swimsuit was ok. I was psyching myself up to see them walk out of the store with two separate bathing suits.

Really, it is a step for me.

The girls each browsed like true shoppers, looking at each one and commenting on the patterns and how they we so in this season. Olivia decided on a solid pink ensemble while Abby wanted a purple animal print one (she was won over by the sparkles). I kept a smile on my face, and gathered our things as we headed to the checkout.

Then, it was there.

Well......Hello, Kitty! (Literally)

Now....I have NO idea how my children found out about Hello Kitty. I'm blaming it on the Grandparents. Their eyes got wide and they both SQUEALED (When was the last time YOU did that over a swim suit?!?)

Instantly, their choice was changed, and I have Sanrio to thank.

The girls LOVE their Hello Kitty suits, and I'm thankful for another matching Summer :)

So You Think You Can Dance?

Well, at least I thought they could :)

The girls had their first dance recital this weekend. They are taking Tap and Ballet, and the instructor decided just to "showcase" one event. Yours truly signed up to be Backstage mom, which surprised a lot of people (For a few hours I was Octomom). I've seen enough dance recitals in my time, I'm really ok with watching from backstage (I think I had more fun anyway).

I digress.

The girls were performing in Manor, so Grandma and I got them all dolled up at school. I was a little concerned about putting makeup on my babies, but it turned out ok (We were far on the natural spectrum, you would have thought we were trying out for Toddlers and Tiaras.....some moms had their kids don the fake hairpiece!!)

See how happy they look?!?
Olivia, ready to rock it out.

My sweet dancing princesses...yes they really are THAT darling ALL THE TIME

Abigail

Putting on the least amount of makeup I could manage

So the rehearsal went well. Both girls decided to dance, well....skip across the stage when asked....with bright smiling faces.
Then.

There.
Was.

RECITAL.
Whole different story. They were up to it, all the way to the stage, when Livy let out a blood curdling "NOOOOO!!" (I'm sure it's archived on the DVD we purchased). Poor thing burst into tears, was glued to my backstage mom leg, and shaking. Abby was on stage, heard her sister cry out, and ran just as the curtains started to open. **Sigh**.
The teacher in me said, "Throw them out there and run like a decent parent should!"
The mom in me said. " COME HERE MY BABIES! I'LL PROTECT YOU FROM THE MEAN OLD STAGE!!".
I was conflicted for a short moment, then decided to take them both backstage to calm down. There was no way I was going to push them onstage.

The good news is that 1/2 of my children decided that they would go out for the finale unaided.
The bad news is the other half was still clinging to my leg.
What's a mom to do?
Dance.

Yup. I dragged myself on stage with 50 or so children and danced with Abby as Livy was buried deep into my shoulder blades.
Needless to say, it was quite an experience.
